Me encantó. I me puse tan contenta cu ando se enrollaron.
Another Beltayne. Another year. In a country where the 1st of May is not celebrated. And here I am… I,who was born with a big notice in my hand demanding my rights. In the night of the fire of the most passionate sexuality, when the energy flows. I should be out looking for another passionate soul to celebrate it
And f course, I came home to study. But I took chocolate cake to school this morning and greeted them for Beltayne, and I have been asked if I am a witch and I said a bit
So I call maintenance. And he comes in ten minutes
I’ll say it again. And air pressure bottle.I llok at him, smile, a high pitch silly laugh comes out of my mind, ji ji ji.. " Come in"
He goes and stands near the sink in the kitchen, and pushes the little lever “wiki wiki". and in my head, like a flash, the image of Javier Bardem and the sound of the film And my hair at the back of my head like goosepumps and the sweat.
Me alone. The studio in New York. The two meter gay. The bottle of pressure air. Javier Bardem. The hole of the bottle of pressure air. And I can see my shiny new 34 years in front of me like ina film the photograms of which get mixed up with the ones from No Country
That’s it. He leaves. Maybe I should tip him. But how much? 10$? I have no change. I do not know where my purse is. He tells me off. I should not leave the food go down the drain..
Maybe I should stop watching so many movies.
Spring has finally arrived. I feel a cool breeze coming from the river in my apartment. The noise of an air conditioning machine from a nearby bus garage is driving me crazy.
A bit further a trail of lights shapes the river. And before the river, the motorway as a kind of metal bridge. Sometimes a train goes underneath it.
And in the middle of the bus garage, the road, the river, the railway and the big supermarket, the River Hudson Café stands.
I feel the breeze as I get ready. I get dress, I put my hair back because I did not wash it today, put some nice ear rings on, lipstick, a slight shadow of colour on my eyes. I open some colour powder breaking into nothing after being so long in my bag without being used. I am going to wear a strap shirt with a cotton top on, with a low neck. It is Tuesday, and I do not want to get overdressed. But I want to look nice. I want K to like me.
So I go down, round the huge mass of a strange colour which is my building, go through the piercing noise of the garage which is my continuous nightmare, and get to this lovely nice house which is the café.
I get in, greet the girls at the door who already know me. I feel a bit nervous and smile. I can see him in the distance. I go to the bar. He sees me. I recognise that light in his eyes. He can’t avoid smiling either. He is preparing a drink. He leaves it, goes under the bar and comes to me. Then he holds me “It’s a long time”. I answer “Yes it is. I have been busy”.
And it is a long time. Almost a month.
I sit at the bar and ask him to surprise me while I look into his eyes. He puts some ice in a cocktail bottle, and different colour drinks. Then some ice. And shakes it while looking at me. I see his wet hands in the ice, his muscles shaking the cocktail, his eyes smiling through the process, “ You are going to like it” he says. I already do.
Then I drink and he works, and we speak. I say something. He says something. I want him. He wants me. I tell him about my things, he tells me about his. And we both want to run away from life. And all the time, the desire is wrapping us like a warm blanket in winter. And we both wish we could give in and go away for a few hours, and escape from the doubts, the fear, the loneliness, so painful… We share our hopes of a future which might never come true, or might come after such a lot of work, and is still so distant… but we still tell ourselves that it can come true, that we are going to work for it. And we look into each others eyes and we believe each other, and we find the only person who believes in our dreams apart from ourselves. Somebody else who listens and believes, and does not judge. And while we talk, while we look, while we smile, the desire entangles in our throats, in our looks, in our lips
And the time comes when the café closes. And he puts everything away, and cleans the bar. And I am the last customer at the café. Everybody has already left. And I get on his car and he takes me home, in the same block. And we give each other a warm hug, the only thing we allow. And we say good bye. And the desire stands in between us.
Some days I text him, and he calls me back, when his wife is not around. Like a furtive lover. And we talk about the things we are doing.
A lover with whom I have not got an affair. A non-lover. Another non relationship in my life.
And yet again, such a beautiful one.And yet again, such a lonely one.
Go on K, you are going to make it. I believe in you, my sweet solicitor.
Quiero gustarle a K.
Me ve. Y entonces me abraza. “Hace tiempo” Contesto, “Sí, hace tiempo. He estado ocupada.”
Entonces yo bebo y él trabaja, y hablamos.
Animo K, vas a conseguirlo. Yo creo en ti, mi dulce abogado.
